The 2015 Prix de Lausanne wrapped up a few days ago, and thankfully for the live streaming made available on YouTube I can catch up on the finals!
For one week every year, aspiring young dancers from all around the world are gathered in Lausanne, Switzerland for one of the most important experiences of their dancing careers. All eyes were on Lausanne this February 2nd-7th 2015, when it was once again the place where potential rising stars of the ballet world competed. This prestigious competition has been running since 1973.
This is one of my favorite competitions because it is only opened to dancers ages 15-18 regardless of nationality. Many past winners have gone on to The Royal Ballet and other great companies. Six scholarships were awarded this year, along with three other awards. All of their hard work have finally paid off, and now these winners are one step closer to the successful dance career they have been dreaming of.
You can visit the Prix de Lausanne blog to view the list of winners here: http://www.prixdelausanne.org/2015-prize-winners/

Anyone who thinks ballet is easy has definitely never done a perfect pirouette.
